Ist mein erster Brief an die Gastfamilie! Ihr müsst nicht alles pingelig genau korrigieren aber grobe Fehler oder Verbesserungsvroschläge werden gerne angenommen =)=)
Dear Hostfamily,
First I would like to thank you for reading my letter and giving me the opportunity to be in Montréal for half a year and live with you together. In the following lines I want to introduce myself and tell you something about my family, hobbies, everyday life and my hopes and expectations for the coming year.
My name is XXXX. Today I’m XX years old and I’m 1.70m tall. I live together my parents, my older cousin, my grandma and my dog in a house in XXXX, a small town near XXXX in the north of Germany. At the moment I attend grade ten, which means I still have 3 years until general qualification for university entrance. After school I want to study something with languages (I’m not sure what I exactly want to study) and maybe work as a interpreter. I love to get to know new people, to travel and to learn new languages!
At home we have a mix of cultures. My mother comes from XXX and my father comes from XXX When I was born I begin to start speaking XXX, today I speak it fluently. Later for school I have to learn German, so I haven’t got much time for learning French. My 19-year old cousin is from Poland and is the son of the Sister of my mother. He lives at our house because he goes to College and studies Architecture. The relationship to him is great, we never really argue and I get on with him very well. I should say that he’s pretty much like a brother to me.
In my free time I play football in the team of our town (XXXX) and we practice twice or thrice a week. Every Saturday I have a footballmatch, where we play against another team from another town. I play football since I’m 7 years old and I really love it! My favourite position is the midfield. Another thing I love to do is to take Photos. I have always enjoyed capturing a moment in time or recording something for reference. I’m generally very, very interested in music and I’m open-minded for every (!) kind of music. I can play piano, because I play since I’m 8 years old. And I love to sing everytime! I’m a member of the schoolchoir and we practice once a week for our performances.
My school starts 8am and normally ends at 1.10pm. Twice a week my schoolday ends at 3pm because I’m member of two afterschool groups. HIER HABE ICH EINEN TEIL WEGGELASSEN WEIL DER RICHTIG WAR UND ZU VIELE PRIVATE INFORMATIONEN ENTHIELT! And now we have contact to a lot of people all over the world especially in America. We organize commemoration ceremony for example on the 9th November or we make “coffee and cake” for all the survining witnesses who want to tell us their story. That’s not all, but I think to describe our work I need more than just a letter
I want to make an exchange year, because I’m very interested in other cultures and I love to travel. When I’m grown up I want to travel all around the world and learn as much languages as I can.
And I am really interested in your country and your culture and I hope I can learn a lot about the Canadian while being there. Maybe I can tell you about my country (or countries because of the culture mix at home ) and we can exchange our thoughts. I think the school system in Canada is different from ours. I would like to know how they are different and learn the language better.
I am really looking forward to my first Canadian school day. I especially like that there is so much activities offered after school and that you can take the courses you want.
My friends would describe me as a humurous, honest, adventurous and very open-minded person.
I really thank you for reading this letter and hope you forgive me all the faults in my letter. I hope you’re going to be my host family and if so, thank you very much!
